DIY | Time Capsule

Creating a time capsule for milestone moments in life is a great way to reminisce with friends and family in the future.

Back in grade school, my class and I created a time capsule that we would open 10 years from then. In it, we added our most treasured item in our class which was our class penny jar that our teacher dressed up as an adorable, furry dog. We called him "Pitiful" and Pitiful helped us throughout the year by funding our class parties -- which of course we loved because a pizza party means school ends early. Along with Pitiful, each of my classmates and I added our own personal treasures that we wanted to share with ourselves when we opened it -- a representation of who we used to be.

Moments, like my pre-pubescent class graduating into middle school, are the precious moments we cherish. They're the historic stories that we get excited to tell our grandkids about. They may even be the nostalgic piece of the puzzle that transports us back to a moment we want to relive.

So, what are you waiting for? Put together your own time capsule and capture a moment in history that you'll want to share with your friends and loved ones.

There's no need to buy a pre-made time capsule. It's an easy DIY. Plus, it makes it even more special when you customize it to your significant occasion.

Don't know what to put in your wedding time capsule? Here are my top ten suggestions:

1) Personal letter to your bride/groom
2) Copy of your wedding vows
3) Copy of the toasts given on your wedding
4) Newspaper from the day you were married
5) Memorabilia from your ceremony/cocktail hour/reception { paper goods + guest favors + photos }
6) Bride + groom's predictions for their future
7) Letters from close family + friends
8) Cork from your champagne bottle
9) Ceremony + reception songlist
10)Bottle of champagne/wine to celebrate the years that you've been together + for many more to come.

A part of you has grown in me. And so you see, it's you and me together forever and never apart, maybe in distance, but never in heart. { Anonymous }
